Our PM&R Residency Program trains physicians to restore function & enhance each patient's quality of life.
Our Curriculum
Our PGY-1 curriculum will be managed by our Internal Medicine Department but has been designed to benefit a future physiatrist.
- General Medicine Wards - 4 weeks
- Geriatrics - 4 weeks
- Psychiatry - 2 weeks
- ULH On-Call - 2 weeks
- Neurology - 4 weeks
- Hematology and Oncology - 4 weeks
- Orthopedic Outpatient clinic - 4 weeks
- Cardiology and Coronary Care Unit - 4 weeks
- VAMC ICU - 4 weeks
- VAMC General Medicine Wards - 4 weeks
- Transplant - 4 weeks
- Pulmonary Consults - 4 weeks
- Elective - 4 weeks
The didactic curriculum focuses on the major areas as outlined by the American Board of PM&R. In addition to the protected time for resident education every Friday, residents receive both formal and informal education during their rotations and participate in an annual anatomy lab course.
Each PM&R resident participates in quality improvement projects and are encouraged to partner with faculty in research projects and scholarly activities.
- Traumatic Brain Injury - 2 months
- Spinal Cord Injury - 2 months
- CVA - Inpatient - 2 months
- Novice EMG/VA - 2 months
- Community Based In-Patient Rehab - Inpatient - 1 month
- Orthopedics and P&O - 1 month
- Intro to PM&R clinics - 1 month
Elective - 1 month

- Pediatric Rehabilitation - Inpatient - 2 months
- Intermediate EMG/VA - 2 months
- VA Pain - 1 month
- Sports Medicine - 1 month
- Pain Outpatient - 1 month
- Medically Complex Rehab - 2 months
- Advanced Cancer Rehab - 1 month
- Jr. PM&R Clinics - 1 month
- Elective - 1 month

- Advanced EMG/VA - 2 months
- Consults - 2 months
- Senior TBI - Inpatient - 1 month
- Senior CVA - Inpatient - 1 month
- Senior SCI - Inpatient - 1 month
- Podiatry - 2 weeks
- Radiology - 2 weeks
- Selective - 1 month
- Elective - 1 month
