Willed Body Program

The Department of Anatomical Sciences and Neurobiology is home to the Willed Body Program.

Program overview

The Willed Body Program at the University of Louisville is a whole-body donation program. Our purpose is to facilitate the donation process to support high quality education for future and current healthcare professionals and to contribute to the advancement of healthcare research at UofL and the surrounding region.

Donating your body for healthcare professional education and research will have an enduring impact by giving the gift of knowledge. Those who receive training and instruction at the University of Louisville through the Willed Body Program apply this knowledge in service to others throughout their careers. Anatomical donors are not only our silent teachers, but our greatest teachers.

Body donations are fundamental to the educational, clinical, service, and research missions of the University of Louisville. The routes to fulfill these missions currently include:

· Anatomical instruction for health professional students

· Continuing education training for residents, fellows, and practicing healthcare providers

· Advancement of surgical techniques and life-saving skills

· Anatomical research

The University recognizes the value and significance of body donation and is committed to ensuring each donor is treated with care, respect, and dignity. We are also dedicated to protecting donor autonomy and anonymity.
