Leadership and Organization

Anatomical Sciences and Neurobiology provide professional instruction in the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. We are also home to world-class investigators in basic and translational science.

We are a highly collaborative group that has strong ties with both basic and clinical departments. Many of us are resident members of the KY Spinal Cord Injury Research Center and KY Lions Eye Center for Visual Sciences.

We are dedicated to biomedical research, health care education and community service. We host a large team of neuroscientists engaged in cutting-edge basic and translational research, particularly in sensory systems, development, nerve repair and anatomy. The department offers PhD and MS programs, contributes to medical and dental education and co-sponsors an undergraduate neuroscience major. It also oversees the Willed Body Bequeathal Program and the Robert Acland Fresh Tissue Lab, providing advanced anatomical training for students and health care professionals.
