We have a long-standing tradition of excellence, with a strong emphasis on education. Our program remains at the forefront of cardiac assist technology and clinical care while advancing groundbreaking laboratory research. The program's clinical, laboratory, and research teams work collaboratively within the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute, alongside the University of Louisville School of Medicine, the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, and Jewish Hospital.
Working in state-of-the-art facilities and using some of the world’s most sophisticated technology has enabled our thoracic surgeons to be leaders in diagnosis, treatment and discovery of heart disease and other illnesses. University of Louisville physicians are often turned to for creating the next steps in cardiovascular surgery, defining the leading edge of the field.
This program has benefited enormously from its affiliation and association with Jewish Hospital and Norton Children’s Hospital, benchmarking our undeniable success in adult and pediatric heart and lung care.
