The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Brown Cancer Center is a national leader in clinical research and a full member of NRG/RTOG. We are a top enroller in head and neck cancer trials, earning national recognition in this field. Our research also includes investigator-initiated studies in lung, breast, pancreatic, and liver cancers, with a strong focus on re-irradiation using stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).
Our robust physics program supports collaborative research, including comparisons of treatment platforms such as arc-based SBRT and robotic systems. We also partner with the Department of Bioimaging to study lung function during thoracic radiation, aiming to detect and prevent radiation pneumonitis, and to analyze tumor morphology for early diagnosis and treatment response.
Faculty and residents regularly present research at major national and international conferences, including ASTRO, ESTRO, ICHNO, and ACRO.
