Glasgow Residency Program Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to equip residents with the skills necessary to excel in family medicine in any clinical setting. Each year builds on the previous, with increasing levels of responsibility.
Our Rotations
- Family Medicine Center/Community Medicine (four weeks – one to two half days/week)
- Orientation, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (the week prior to July 1)
- Orientation/Family Medicine Hospital Service (two to three weeks)
- Family Medicine Hospital Service (13 weeks)
(includes one week during holiday schedule*) - OB/Peri I (four weeks)
- General Surgery (four weeks)
- GYN (four weeks)
- Outpatient Pediatrics (four weeks)
- Pediatric Wards at Norton Children’s Hospital (four weeks)
- Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Norton Children’s Hospital (four weeks)
- Emergency Medicine and Night Float (four weeks)
- Behavorial Health/Substance Abuse (two weeks)
- Pain Management (two weeks)
* The holiday schedule allows the residents to work in shifts during the last two weeks of December for half the time and take vacation the other half.
* Didactics five to six hours/week, usually one and a half hours on Tuesday and a half hour on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and three to four hours on Friday afternoon.

- Cardiology I: Inpatient (four weeks)
- Emergency Medicine and Night Float (12 weeks)
- Outpatient Pediatrics (four weeks)
- Ophthalmology (four weeks)
- Urology (two weeks)
- Electives (eight weeks)
- Inpatient Pulmonary, includes critical care (four weeks)
- Radiology (two weeks)
- ATLS (optional)
- Conference time taken in any combination of five days (one week)
- Vacation taken one week at a time during certain rotations (four weeks)
