Reconstructive Foot/Ankle and Limb Salvage Fellowship

One-year CPME-accredited fellowship

The Reconstructive Foot/Ankle and Limb Salvage Fellowship Program was established in 2007. At that time, we felt the need to provide additional training that is not abundant at most—specifically trauma and limb salvage. As a CPME approved Fellowship Program, we must demonstrate and maintain compliance with the standards and requirements in CPME publication 820, Standards and Requirements for Approval of Podiatric Fellowships. As one of currently only 14 Fellowship Programs Approved by Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME), this program is highly sought after by graduating residents around the country. CPME is the only recognized accreditation body for the podiatric profession and they alone can “approve” a fellowship program.

Our fellows encounter a broad range of foot and ankle pathology, with a focus on lower extremity trauma and limb salvage. We strive to expand on our fellow's surgical skills and to develop mentorship aptitudes as it pertains to residency education. We enhance these skills by providing fellows a sense of autonomy during hands-on clinical and surgical environments while acting as a Junior Attending for our residency program. Fellows participate in the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative management of surgical patients as well as using advanced pedorthic and prosthetic techniques for non-surgical patients. This one-year fellowship provides a unique opportunity at a Level One Trauma Center and a university setting.
