Physiology

Exploring the fundamental mechanisms of human physiology to contribute to advances in health, disease and therapeutic development.

We have a fully supported PhD program with a focus in physiology and offers an MS degree (non-thesis). We proudly have 18 full-time faculty members and we host 23 affiliate faculty members. Physiology has received multiple National Research service awards with a focus on PhD-Student training fellowships. Our department is proud to have world-class investigators and award-winning educators. Our physiology department is ranked 64th in NIH funding. We have federally and privately funded research labs. Physiology also has collaborative ties with the UofL Bridges to the Baccalaureate Program for JCTC students.

One major goal of Physiology is to provide students with advanced training, which leads to the PhD Degree. The research interests are broad enough to provide each student with a wide selection of possible research & graduate education opportunities.

Our faculty focus on Hypertension, Diabetes and Microvascular Regulation, Heart and Vascular Remodeling and Hyperhomocysteinemia.
