Our faculty members are engaged in significant basic and translational laboratory research, clinical and health services research programs, supported by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, the American Cancer Society and a variety of other funding agencies.
General Surgery
The Division of General Surgery advances research in basic and translational sciences and community outreach, focusing on sepsis, immune response to traumatic injury, obesity, trauma, optimizing donor management and peritoneal resuscitation.
Immunotherapy
The Division of Immunotherapy leads groundbreaking research on harnessing the immune system to treat cancer and other diseases. Our innovative team of researchers are meeting the everyday challenges to discover solutions to many medical obstacles.
Surgical Oncology
Faculty in the Division of Surgical Oncology lead significant basic science and translational research funded by the NIH and others. The Division also directs numerous clinical studies, including national multicenter cancer trials.
Colon and Rectal Surgery
The Price Institute for Surgical Research funds "Price Fellows" to pursue PhD research in the Digestive Surgery Research Laboratory, where global researchers aim to prevent, manage and one day cure digestive diseases.
Pediatric Surgery
We collaborate with pediatric surgery experts from top Midwest academic centers to improve patient outcomes through multi-institutional studies. We are also working to enhance children's services and trauma systems in Kentucky
Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapeutics
The Vascular and Endovascular Division excels in research, education and patient care. Faculty specialize in specific vascular conditions, leading multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation, improve outcomes and mentor future clinicians.
