MD-PhD Student Physician-Scientist Accelerated Research and Clinical Training Program
The MD-PhD Student Physician-Scientist Accelerated Research and Clinical Training Program (SPARC) is a summer program designed to introduce high school juniors and seniors to the physician-scientist career path by immersing them in hands-on biomedical research, clinical shadowing and professional development.
MD-PhD Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
MD-PhD Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) is designed for undergraduate students interested in pursuing a MD-PhD degree. Faculty introduce students to the physician-scientist career path. Students spend time in the lab of a UofL faculty mentor, shadow a clinician and interact with current MD-PhD students.
Brown Cancer Center High School Summer Research Program
The Brown Cancer Center provides a High School Summer Research Program (HSSRP) open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors in Louisville and the Jefferson County Metro area. The HSSRP affords students an opportunity to be immersed in the cancer research culture, obtain a hands-on wet-lab research tutorial, followed by an individual mentored research lab experience with Brown Cancer Center faculty.
Summer Undergraduate Research Program
The MD-PhD Summer Undergraduate Research Program is designed especially for undergraduate students interested in pursuing a combined MD-PhD degree. Students are introduced to physician-scientist career paths, elucidate the MD-PhD application process and mentor students.
Summer Research Opportunity Programs
The Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) provides UofL undergraduate students an intensive research experience with a faculty mentor in any discipline. SROP is designed for the advancement of our goal to involve eligible undergraduate students in research and creative activities.
Pre-medical Magnet Program
The Pre-medical Magnet Program gives West Louisville students an up-close and personal experience with a career in medicine. Students are able to shadow physicians during rounds at UofL Health and UofL Hospital, scrub into operating rooms and witness surgeries, provided through this immersive curriculum.
Summer Research Scholar Program
The Summer Research Scholar Program (SRSP) provides a summer research experience to rising 2nd-year medical students. SRSP provides medical students who are interested in research the opportunity to participate in a research project and expose them to the research environment of an academic medical center and the activities of academic physicians and scientists.
Distinction in Research Track
The Distinction in Research Track (DIR) provides medical students with meaningful and productive research experiences that enrich their medical school training. The role of clinician as researcher and the methods of basic and translational research will be taught throughout the DIR track. The format will include equipping the students with commonly used tools for research and hands-on mentored research experience.
Dean's Research Scholars
The Professional Development Core provides training and education to support early-stage clinician-scientists. The prestigious Dean's Research Scholars Program provides a one year full-time, paid research fellowship for medical students who aspire to become physician-scientists.
