Minimum requirements for admission to the MD program include a complete primary and secondary application, prerequisite coursework in basic science areas, an eligible MCAT score and three letters of recommendation or committee letter packet. Most admitted students to the MD program are eligible for federal student loans to help cover the cost of attendance and living expenses while enrolled. Scholarships are also available and awarded to students following admission based on information provided in the primary and secondary applications. Students have a dedicated financial aid counselor and can learn more through the Office of Financial Aid. Financial aid and scholarships for graduate and doctoral programs vary and are available through the Graduate School.
Students enrolled in the MD program explore many areas of medical practice through the program curriculum, including core clerkships in family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery. MD program students also complete rotations in clinical care and palliative care and include electives in specialty areas of interest such as anesthesia, emergency medicine and orthopedics in their final year of study. Students have the opportunity to engage with residency programs within the School of Medicine throughout their MD studies.
