Our mission
The mission of the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center Office of Professional and Educational Development (OPED) is to provide high quality education that fosters lifelong learning for healthcare providers and interprofessional teams. Grounded in evidence-based practices, OPED collaborates with healthcare teams, system stakeholders and the broader community to identify and address professional practice gaps. By fostering interdisciplinary learning and leveraging innovative educational strategies, OPED aims to elevate professional competencies, enhance safety and quality in patient care and promote effective collaboration across healthcare disciplines.

What we do
Are you a healthcare professional who's interested in creating continuing education opportunities? Developing continuing education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine involves expert collaboration to design, accredit and deliver high-quality, evidence-based activities that address professional practice gaps and support lifelong learning for healthcare teams. The Office of Professional and Educational Development offers comprehensive support throughout the process, including course development, budget planning, accreditation, program evaluation and participant management to ensure effective and accessible educational experiences across a range of modalities.

The CE Advisory board is made up of clinical and educational experts across the university system. This advisory board is responsible for overseeing the clinical soundness of CE applications and offerings.

A financial disclosure is a form for those involved in CE to share their financial relationships. Everyone involved must fill one out, including planning committee members, speakers, etc. These forms must be filled out yearly.
We charge for all live events and external regularly scheduled series, but we do not charge for University of Louisville department based regularly scheduled series.
We currently have the capability to help you claim MOC credits through our CE offerings, dependent on the board. Please reach out to chse@louisville.edu with any questions.
Supporters/exhibitors can pay by credit card online through our CE Tracker platform, or mail in a check. Details are provided when they fill out a sponsor form.
University of Louisville departments can initiate a journal voucher to OPED, or will receive an invoice from OPED, dependent on funds/deficits. Outside entities will make arrangements with our UBM for transfer/collection.
Yes, but there is a fee associated with this process.
