Brown Cancer Center Accepts 12 High School Summer Research Interns for 2024

December 11, 2024

The Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville is happy to announce the acceptance of twelve outstanding high school Summer Research Interns for 2024.  The selected students are from the Louisville Metro area and the region.  A list of students with schools and their Cancer Center mentor is shown below.

This competitive program began in 2002, with a 2-year hiatus for CoVID-19.  It runs for 8-weeks, from Monday, June 10 through Friday, August 2.

Students selected obtain hands-on wet-lab or computer-driven research experience through working with Brown Cancer Center (BCC) faculty in their research laboratories.

A seminar series organized specifically for this group is held each Wednesday, where speakers discuss their current cutting-edge research or the hottest topics in cancer research today.

At the end of the 8-week period, interns prepare posters for presentation at a special UofL session for all summer programs organized for the last Friday afternoon of the program.  At this session posters – presented by the college and high school summer interns from other science programs on the HSC as well as by the BCC Summer Research Interns – showcase the work each intern completed over the summer.

Congratulations to the selected interns.
