Hoops, heart and hope: Why you won’t want to miss ‘An evening with Coach Jeff Walz'

September 3, 2026

If there is anyone in Cardinal Country who knows a thing or two about grit, leadership and rising to the challenge when the pressure is on, it’s Jeff Walz.

Having averaged over 27 wins a season across a stellar 19-year run — and fresh off securing his monumental 500th career victory in January 2026 — the legendary University of Louisville women’s basketball head coach has built a culture of excellence on the court.

Now, Coach Walz is bringing that signature intensity and passion to an entirely different arena: mental health awareness.

On Friday, September 11, 2026, supporters, sports fans, and community advocates will gather from 6-8:30 p.m. for An Evening with Coach Jeff Walz — a special fundraising dinner benefiting the vital work of the UofL Depression Center.

A game plan for a great cause

Whether you’re a die-hard Louisville sports fan eager to hear behind-the-scenes insights from one of the nation’s top coaches or someone who wants to make a real difference in the fight against depression, this event promises to be an inspiring night out.

Guests will enjoy a delicious dinner, lively conversation and an exclusive presentation from Coach Walz focusing on perseverance, overcoming adversity and driving community impact.

"It’s not just about winning games on the court; it’s about showing up for the community when it matters most."
