UofL Anesthesia Represented at 2026 AMA Annual Meeting

Anesthesiologists with deep roots in the UofL Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine were in Chicago earlier this month representing Kentucky at the American Medical Association's Annual Meeting.

Dr. Jiapeng Huang, Professor and Vice Chairman of the department, is attending as President of the Kentucky Medical Association (KMA). Installed as the KMA's 175th President at the organization's 2025 Annual Meeting, Dr. Huang represents the state's physicians on a national stage, bringing his expertise in anesthesiology, perioperative medicine, and clinical research to the AMA House of Delegates. In addition to his KMA role, Dr. Huang serves as Chief Scientific Officer and Associate Dean for Clinical Research at UofL Health, and holds leadership positions with the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the British Journal of Anaesthesia.

Also representing Louisville is Dr. Aneeta Bhatia, who recently retired from the UofL faculty after a distinguished career in the department. Dr. Bhatia is attending as President of the Greater Louisville Medical Society (GLMS), one of the oldest and most active county medical societies in the state. Her presence at the HOD underscores her continued commitment to organized medicine and physician advocacy beyond her clinical career.

In addition, CA2, Dr. Andrew Ray attended the conference representing the resident component of our national society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

Having UofL Anesthesia representation at the AMA is a point of real pride!

Congratulations and thank you to Drs. Huang, Bhatia, and Ray for their continued efforts.
