Welcome from Division Chief
It is my privilege to serve as Division Chief and to lead a dedicated group of faculty, staff, clinicians, and researchers committed to excellence in speech-language pathology education, clinical training, and scholarship. Our mission is to prepare highly competent, ethical, and practice-ready speech-language pathologists who are equipped to meet the communication and swallowing needs of individuals across the lifespan.
Our program is housed within the School of Medicine, providing a distinctive environment that integrates academic preparation with clinical and translational practice. Students benefit from interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, allied health professionals, and community partners across medical, educational, and community-based settings. This structure allows for a depth and breadth of training that reflects the realities of contemporary clinical practice.
We emphasize a strong foundation in evidence-based practice, ensuring that students develop the ability to critically evaluate research, apply clinical reasoning, and deliver effective, individualized care. Through extensive hands-on clinical experiences, students gain proficiency in evaluation, treatment, and professional practice competencies while working with diverse populations and communication disorders.
Our faculty are actively engaged in teaching, clinical service, and scholarship, crossing the core areas of speech-language pathology assessment and treatment. This breadth of expertise enriches the student experience and supports a curriculum that is both rigorous and clinically relevant.
We are equally committed to community engagement and professional leadership. Our partnerships with local and regional organizations provide meaningful opportunities for service, outreach, and applied learning, while also addressing critical needs within our communities.
Whether you are a prospective student exploring graduate education, a clinical or community partner seeking collaboration, or a colleague in the field, I invite you to learn more about our program. We are confident that you will find a training environment that is challenging, supportive, and aligned with the highest standards of the profession. We look forward to supporting your development and to advancing the field of speech-language pathology together.
