A day in the life of a PGY-4 psychiatry resident

Our PGY4 residents are now at the helm, balancing advanced clinical decision-making with the final preparations for independent practice. The Class of 2028 is ready for what's next.
During the fourth year, the psychiatry and behavioral sciences residents are mostly completing electives and inpatient rotations. While on the inpatient unit, they get practice running the unit as if they were the attending. They supervise lower-level residents, lead treatment teams with social workers, therapists and nursing staff, as well as make treatment plans for patients, all while under the supervision of an the attending physician.
