Undergraduate Medical Education
The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) faculty and staff at the University of Louisville School of Medicine are dedicated to supporting students’ academic, professional and personal development. Our Medical Admissions team assists applicants through the process for MD, MD/PhD and MD/MBA programs, from understanding application requirements to interview preparation.
Our UME team offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes innovative teaching methods such as team-based and problem-based learning. Early clinical exposure and diverse elective options allow students to tailor their education to align with their career goals.
We place a strong emphasis on student well-being through a variety of supportive resources. Our Student Affairs team offers comprehensive wellness programs and academic coaching to help students thrive both academically and personally.
Additionally, our Distinction Tracks provide extracurricular opportunities for students to explore specialized areas of medicine. Through focused mentorship, students can delve deeper into the fields of Business and Leadership, Global and Public Health, Health Equity and Medical Justice, Medical Education, Research and Urban Primary Care. Students gain valuable experience and insight to enhance their medical education.
Separately, the Trover Track offers students the opportunity to gain specialized experience in rural healthcare. It focuses on providing hands-on training in underserved rural communities, preparing students for careers in rural medicine.
