The University of Louisville Global Health Center assists refugees, immigrants, and others take the first steps in applying for a Green Card. Having a Green Card (officially known as a Permanent Resident Card (PDF, 1.69 MB) allows you to live and work permanently in the United States.

The Green card process usually requires that you have a medical examination. This exam must be done by a doctor who is authorized by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Our physicians are certified Civil Surgeons and ensure your medical examination follows all the guidelines outlined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Green Card application process requires that you have resided in the United States for 12 months, however, you can schedule an appointment for the medical examination after living in the United States for 11 months.
