Research Overview

Our current pediatric infectious disease clinical and translational research focuses on improving treatments for common and serious infections in infants and children. We are investigating new therapies for Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease and COVID-19, with a focus on safety, effectiveness and how medications are processed in young patients. Additionally, we are studying treatments to prevent neonatal herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections in newborns. These research efforts aim to enhance care and outcomes for pediatric patients facing these challenging conditions.

As part of the University of Louisville School of Medicine Pediatric Research Institute and Norton Children's Research Institute, our faculty and fellows have access to cutting-edge research resources with minimal administrative burdens. With over 200 clinical research professionals and 300+ active studies, including Phase 1-3 clinical trials, we are at the forefront of pediatric research and clinical advancements.
