Application and Interview Process
The University of Louisville Internal Medicine & Pediatrics Residency Program is competitive yet committed to providing a holistic review to select students that will thrive in our program and add different experiences and perspectives.
1
Application Overview
- Students who think they are a good match for this program are encouraged to apply early and to make sure their Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) application is complete as we only accept applications electronically through ERAS. The program leadership team reviews every ERAS application and selects candidates to invite for an interview.
- We accept five interns annually.
- We ask for a total of three letters of recommendation from faculty who know you well.
2
Virtual Interview Specifics
- If selected, interviews will be arranged with Med-Peds program directors as a part of a larger application experience. We are aligned with the recommendations from the Med-Peds Program Director's Association with a virtual interview season:
- We will provide virtual interviews and info sessions for all applicants that focus on what makes us unique while maintaining efficiency. After you are invited to interview, you will have access to an applicant website with a deeper look into our program and updates throughout the interview season. Our hope is that these additional experiences will allow you to make an informed decision during this unusual process.
- Your interview will start with virtual time with our residents the night prior to your interview allowing time to chat in micro-groups with residents who share your interests and experience the larger resident group dynamic during some virtual games.
- We will have morning and afternoon interview sessions to accommodate a variety of time zones/scheduling needs. Each session will include an overview by our program leadership and then twenty minute virtual interviews with both Dr. Workman and our Associate Program Director, Dr. Laura Bishop.
- During the noon hour, we will have an informal faculty panel and time for a followup chat with our residents.
- We remain available by email throughout this season for any questions or needs that you may have regarding recruitment or the city of Louisville.
