Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women's Health Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS)
This fellowship focuses on comprehensive training to diagnose and treat urogynecologic conditions.
Overview
This three-year fully accredited ACGME fellowship trains physicians to treat patients with dysfunctions of the urinary tract and the pelvic floor, including incontinence and prolapse. Surgical education includes a balance of vaginal and open, laparoscopic and robotic techniques. Unique opportunities include a laparoscopic dry lab dedicated to the fellowship, a fresh tissue cadaver lab with full laparoscopic set-up and collaborative research opportunities with University of Louisville clinicians and basic scientists.

Residency Centralized Application Service (CAS)
OBGYN Residency Programs will be participating in ResidencyCAS to:
- Apply to OBGYN residency programs
- Signal OBGYN programs
- Request documents supporting the application, such as transcripts, LORs/SLOEs and USMLE / COMLEX scores
- Schedule and participate in virtual interviews with programs

Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE)
All Applicants: One Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE) should be included in applicants’ ResidencyCAS packages. The SLOE will replace one of the traditional letters of recommendation (LOR) or the Chair’s letter; applicants should still include two OBGYN LORs (traditional or Chair where available) and one other LOR.
- Our specialty will be implementing Program Signaling.
- Each applicant may choose to send a total of 18 signals with their ResidencyCAS application (three gold signals for programs of highest interest and 15 silver signals for programs of high interest).
- Residency Programs must indicate participation when registering for ResidencyCAS.

USMLE Requirements
- To be competitive, a PASS score on USMLE Step I and a 225 or above on USMLE Step II CK.
- Results of the USMLE Step II CK must be received by Feb. 1, 2025, for the application to be considered for the rank list.

Medical school transcript
All applicants must have graduated medical school within the past five years of when the next academic year starts. (i.e., for Match 2025 - Graduation date 2020 in order to start 2025.)

Term life insurance is provided for all residents, in the amount of $2,000 of life insurance for each $1,000 of annual stipend. Accidental death and dismemberment coverage is included.
Single and family coverage is available at group rates. Several different plans at varying costs are available to choose from. Residents may choose Premium Conversion, which permits payment of premiums with pre-tax dollars. The Faculty Practice Office in the Outpatient Care Center will provide an annual examination, including cleaning and up to four bitewing x-rays, to residents free of charge. Any additional services are the responsibility of the resident. Residents can call 852-5401 for information. Residents may also purchase, at group rates, dental insurance in both single and family plans.
All residents are covered by workers compensation for medical expenses and lost work time due to job-related illness or injury.
Long-term disability insurance is provided for residents, free of charge. Residents have the option of converting the coverage from group to individual at the end of their training and the option of purchasing additional coverage at very reduced rates.
Coverage is provided for all residents by either the University of Louisville or by the hospitals to which residents are assigned. This coverage applies to all assigned rotations that are part of residency training, as detailed on the reverse side of the resident agreement.
Kentucky state law requires that all PGY-2 and above trainees be licensed to practice medicine in the state of Kentucky. The fee for the initial training license is paid by the Graduate Medical Education Office for the PGY-1's who continue as PGY-2's in UofL programs.
Hepatitis B immunization and an annual TB skin test are required and furnished free of charge to all residents. The Campus Health Services Office provides minor urgent medical care and immunizations, including boosters and TB testing. Personal counseling is also available. The Campus Health Services Office also serves as an on-site treatment facility for workers compensation related injuries and exposures including needle sticks and as the repository of resident immunization records and exposure data. The office is staffed by board-certified faculty physicians and faculty nurse practitioners who have extensive primary care and occupational exposure experience.
Lab coats are provided by departments for residents at the beginning of their training.
