Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women's Health Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS)

This fellowship focuses on comprehensive training to diagnose and treat urogynecologic conditions.

Overview

This three-year fully accredited ACGME fellowship trains physicians to treat patients with dysfunctions of the urinary tract and the pelvic floor, including incontinence and prolapse. Surgical education includes a balance of vaginal and open, laparoscopic and robotic techniques. Unique opportunities include a laparoscopic dry lab dedicated to the fellowship, a fresh tissue cadaver lab with full laparoscopic set-up and collaborative research opportunities with University of Louisville clinicians and basic scientists.

The University of Louisville Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) Fellowship is an accredited three-year program.

Application and Interview Process

Application Procedure

Applicants must have their files completed for screening prior to receiving an invitation to interview. Applications must be submitted using ResidencyCAS.

Residency Centralized Application Service (CAS)

OBGYN Residency Programs will be participating in ResidencyCAS to:

  • Apply to OBGYN residency programs
  • Signal OBGYN programs
  • Request documents supporting the application, such as transcripts, LORs/SLOEs and USMLE / COMLEX scores
  • Schedule and participate in virtual interviews with programs

Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE)

All Applicants: One Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE) should be included in applicants’ ResidencyCAS packages. The SLOE will replace one of the traditional letters of recommendation (LOR) or the Chair’s letter; applicants should still include two OBGYN LORs (traditional or Chair where available) and one other LOR.

  • Our specialty will be implementing Program Signaling.
  • Each applicant may choose to send a total of 18 signals with their ResidencyCAS application (three gold signals for programs of highest interest and 15 silver signals for programs of high interest).
  • Residency Programs must indicate participation when registering for ResidencyCAS.

USMLE Requirements

  • To be competitive, a PASS score on USMLE Step I and a 225 or above on USMLE Step II CK.
  • Results of the USMLE Step II CK must be received by Feb. 1, 2025, for the application to be considered for the rank list.

Medical school transcript

All applicants must have graduated medical school within the past five years of when the next academic year starts. (i.e., for Match 2025 - Graduation date 2020 in order to start 2025.)
