Our ENT residency offers comprehensive, hands-on training across key specialties, preparing residents with clinical, surgical and professional skills for a dynamic career in otolaryngology.

Overview

Welcome to the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Residency at the University of Louisville! Our accredited five-year program offers residents a progressive and comprehensive learning experience designed to develop essential clinical, surgical and professional skills in otolaryngology. Residents benefit from exposure to a wide range of specialties, including General Surgery, Critical Care and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, fostering a well-rounded foundation for a career in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Our curriculum integrates clinical rotations, didactic conferences, specialized dissection courses and research opportunities, providing varied training across public, private and veterans hospitals. Residents gain expertise in key areas such as head and neck surgery, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, pediatric otolaryngology and sleep medicine. We emphasize not only technical proficiency but also the interpersonal skills and professionalism required to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care to our many patient populations.

Program Details

The goals of the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Residency program at the ULSOM are supported by a comprehensive educational program.
Rotations
Residents in the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery program at UofL gain broad, hands-on experience through a variety of hospital-based rotations and weekly ambulatory clinics, with progressive responsibilities from PGY-1 to PGY-5.
Facilities
Residents train at UofL Hospital, Norton Children’s, Jewish and the VA, gaining hands-on experience in trauma, cancer care and complex cases across adult and pediatric patients in collaborative settings.

Application and Interview Process

The following outlines the process for medical students applying for an otolaryngology residency.

Applicants must have their files completed for screening prior to receiving an invitation to interview. Applications must be submitted using ERAS.
