Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Fellowship Detail

Overview

A pathology fellowship program offers advanced training for medical professionals who have completed residency in pathology. The program focuses on enhancing diagnostic skills, research and specialized techniques in various subspecialties.

Our fellowship programs include Transfusion Medicine, Cytopathology, Surgical Pathology, Clinical Chemistry and Forensic Pathology. Within these fellowships, we offer Clinical Training where fellows gain hands-on experience in diagnostic pathology, they participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case discussions and have the opportunity to work with advanced diagnostic techniques, such as immunohistochemistry and next-generation sequencing.

We also offer Research Opportunities with an emphasis on developing research skills through projects related to pathology, collaboration with faculty on ongoing research studies and to present findings at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

Educational Components include Didactic lectures and seminars covering advanced topics in pathology, regular case reviews, pathology rounds and workshops on emerging technologies and techniques.

Mentorships are available and encouraged for fellows, thus they can work closely with faculty mentors for guidance on clinical and research endeavors, They also receive structured feedback and evaluation to support professional development.

The duration typically lasts 1-2 years, depending on the subspecialty and program structure. Completion may lead to eligibility for board certification in the chosen subspecialty. Graduates often pursue careers in academic medicine, clinical practice, research, or industry roles.

Pathology fellowship programs provide essential training for pathologists to refine their skills, engage in impactful research and contribute to the field through specialized knowledge and techniques.
