Molecular Diagnostics and Infectious Diseases Research Program
Rapid detection of bacteria, viruses and fungi.
Program Overview
Diasorin Molecular Diagnostics selected our research laboratory to conduct a verification analysis on a modified PCR assay for the purpose of detecting the yeast, Pneumocystis jerovecki (formerly P. carinii). Bronchoalveolar Lavage is the primary specimen being tested with this molecular assay. The results of this verification analysis will be used in support of the the company’s effort to obtain FDA approval for commercializing the assay. Two pathology residents are conducting the analysis.
