Overview
The Division of Pediatric Critical Care's research portfolio is distinguished by its emphasis on multicenter collaboration, innovation in simulation-based education and translational inquiry into complex critical illness. Faculty lead and participate in national research networks, including Society for Pediatric Research, International Network for Simulation-based Pediatric Innovation, Research and Education and Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators contributing to high-impact studies.
Notable research includes investigations into COVID-19 and MIS-C outcomes, ventilator and sedation strategies and the development of tools like the POCUS IQ Scale and trauma-informed care assessments. Additionally, the division plays a leading role in establishing best practices through simulation, quality improvement science and guideline development.
As part of the University of Louisville School of Medicine Pediatric Research Institute and Norton Children's Research Institute, our faculty and fellows can access cutting-edge research resources with minimal administrative burdens. With over 200 clinical research professionals and 300+ active studies, including Phase 1-3 clinical trials, we are at the forefront of pediatric research and clinical advancements.
