Research
Overview
As pediatric endocrinologists, we focus on advancing the understanding and management of endocrine and metabolic disorders in children, with a particular emphasis on diabetes care and congenital hypothyroidism. A central theme in our work is optimizing diabetes technology and care strategies, as seen in studies evaluating glucose variability in relation to physical activity, continuous glucose monitor (CGM) accuracy during exercise and long-term CGM use in young children. These efforts aim to improve real-world outcomes for children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes.
Additionally, we explore systems-based challenges, such as enhancing clinical trial recruitment and retention in rural and underserved communities and refining screening and management approaches for congenital hypothyroidism.
As part of the University of Louisville School of Medicine Pediatric Research Institute and Norton Children's Research Institute, our faculty and fellows can access cutting-edge research resources with minimal administrative burdens. With over 200 clinical research professionals and 300+ active studies, including Phase 1-3 clinical trials, we are at the forefront of pediatric research and clinical advancements.
