Overview

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine offers a two-year position as a resident in radiation oncology physics. This program is one of the first programs in the nation accredited by CAMPEP. Responsibilities include clinical duties, teaching, and professional advancement. Residents are assigned responsibilities under supervision related to patient care, physics consultations, patient treatment planning, dosimetry, and quality assurance.

The successful candidate will join a team of five medical physicists, six radiation oncologists, four dosimetrists, two engineers, and a senior medical physics resident. Research opportunities include ongoing programs in IMRT/IGRT, respiratory gating, radiopharmaceutical administration, stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy, and radiation oncology informatics.

Application Process

Our program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and meets all requirements set forth by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). We participate in the National Resident Match Program through ERAS. The program is currently approved by the ACGME for a total of six residents.

Invitations for interview are extended after receipt of a completed ERAS application. This is an advanced program requiring successful completion of a certified internship in internal medicine, surgery or transitional year program secured independently of this advanced position.
