Rural Health

Supporting Kentucky's rural needs by training future caregivers and expanding programs that connect rural communities with essential health resources

Bridging the Gap

Good health is for everyone and to serve our mission fully, one has to interact with and understand the needs of diverse populations to include rural areas.  Rural health takes into consideration the unique needs of communities that do not have the population to allow for large-scale development as well as being in geographic areas that are considerable distances away from larger metropolitan centers.

The University of Louisville has worked as a valued team member with our Commonwealth to make sure that areas of need are addressed thoroughly. The university works to create opportunities for students and patients throughout the state whether it be through the work of their award-winning Area Health Education Center programs that cover the entire state or the creation of future physicians at unique locations throughout Kentucky that provide medical education, residency education and patient care.
