About Us

Welcome From Division Chief

The University of Louisville Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine is dedicated to excellence in patient care, medical education, research, quality improvement and advocacy. Our faculty, trainees and staff share a commitment to advancing the care of hospitalized children and adolescents while preparing the next generation of pediatric hospital medicine leaders. Through collaboration, innovation and compassionate care, we strive to improve outcomes for patients and families across the region and beyond.

Academic excellence is at the heart of our mission. Our faculty are actively engaged in medical education, quality improvement, patient safety, advocacy and clinical research, contributing meaningful scholarship at both local and national levels. Members of our division hold prominent leadership positions throughout the Department of Pediatrics, including Department Chair, Pediatric Residency Program Director and Medicine-Pediatrics Program Co-Directors. Through these roles and numerous national collaborations, our faculty help shape the future of pediatric healthcare, medical education and healthcare delivery systems.

Our division fosters a vibrant academic environment that supports clinical innovation, educational advancement and healthcare systems research. Faculty lead mentorship initiatives, quality improvement projects and scholarly pursuits that create opportunities for professional growth while advancing pediatric hospital medicine. This culture of inquiry, collaboration and continuous improvement enriches the experience of our learners and strengthens the care we provide to hospitalized children.

Education and mentorship are central to our commitment. The Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship is a two-year, ACGME-accredited program designed to train future leaders in pediatric hospital medicine. Through comprehensive clinical training, individualized educational experiences and dedicated mentorship, we prepare fellows to become skilled clinicians, innovative educators, effective advocates and compassionate physicians.

The educational curriculum includes a robust schedule of conferences and scholarly activities designed to address the core competencies of pediatric hospital medicine. Fellows participate in departmental Grand Rounds, divisional conferences, national fellows' conferences and a variety of educational forums that support clinical knowledge, leadership development, quality improvement and academic growth.

As a division, we are committed not only to providing outstanding care today but also to shaping the future of pediatric hospital medicine. Through strong institutional support, nationally engaged faculty and a collaborative learning environment, we equip fellows with the knowledge, skills and resources necessary to become leaders in clinical care, research, education and advocacy.

We invite you to learn more about our faculty, fellowship program and academic mission, and to join us in our commitment to advancing the care of hospitalized children through excellence, innovation and leadership.
