Welcome From Division Chief

The University of Louisville Division of Pediatric Cardiology is dedicated to advancing the care of children and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease through excellence in clinical care, research and education. Our nationally recognized faculty lead innovative research focused on congenital heart disease, fetal cardiology, cardiovascular genetics and novel interventional therapies, while working collaboratively across disciplines to improve outcomes for patients and families. Through strong partnerships within the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Norton Children's Heart Institute and national research networks, we are helping shape the future of pediatric cardiovascular care.

Education and mentorship are central to our mission. We are proud to offer both an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship and an ACGME-accredited Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Fellowship. The Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship provides comprehensive clinical and research training with increasing responsibility throughout its three-year curriculum, supported by mentorship from more than 20 pediatric cardiologists, congenital cardiovascular surgeons and a dedicated cardiac care team. Fellows gain exposure to a high-volume, nationally respected clinical program while benefiting from opportunities to pursue advanced degrees, conduct research and develop expertise in education, advocacy and quality improvement. The ACHD Fellowship prepares physicians to become leaders in the care of adults living with congenital heart disease through a rigorous multidisciplinary curriculum that integrates pediatric and adult cardiology training.

Our research enterprise is a cornerstone of the division's academic mission. Faculty and fellows participate in multicenter collaborations through organizations such as NPC-QIC, PC4 and IMPACT while also leading investigations into the genetic basis of atrial arrhythmias in children and therapies for fetal atrioventricular block. Access to the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center, with its extensive research infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities, supports groundbreaking clinical and translational research that advances evidence-based care and improves long-term outcomes for children and adults with cardiovascular disease.
