The PLDP is a one-year fellowship program designed to, “develop the next generation of Pediatric Chairs, ensuring that they will be well poised to lead our profession through the rapidly changing environment of academic medicine and health care in general,” according to AMSPDC.
The program focuses on mentorship, both formally and peer-to-peer, while helping participants to create a leadership development project that “will be of value to the home department of the candidate.”
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to participate in the PLDP program,” said Dr. Brothers. “I’m excited for the chance to improve my leadership skills and connect with other emerging academic pediatric leadership across the country.”
