About Us

Welcome From Division Chief

The University of Louisville School of Medicine Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine is dedicated to improving the lives of the most vulnerable infants through excellence in patient care, research, education and advocacy. Our mission is to advance neonatal health through innovative discovery, collaborative research and evidence-based practices that enhance outcomes for newborns and their families.

Our faculty, trainees and staff are united by a shared commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care while advancing the science of neonatology. Through groundbreaking research and interdisciplinary collaboration, we continuously seek new knowledge and innovative approaches that improve the care of critically ill and premature infants.

Education and mentorship are central to our mission. We are proud to train the next generation of neonatology leaders through our three-year ACGME-accredited Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship program. Fellows gain diverse clinical experiences at both Norton Children’s Hospital Level IV NICU and UofL Health – UofL Hospital Level III NICU. They also participate in the Neonatal High-Risk Follow-Up Clinic at the Novak Center for Children’s Health and work alongside the "Just for Kids" Transport Team, caring for critically ill infants across the region.

Beyond education, research and clinical care, we are committed advocates for maternal and infant health. We strive to promote health equity, influence policy and create meaningful, lasting impact within our communities and beyond.

We invite you to learn more about our programs, connect with our faculty, staff and trainees, and join us in our mission to improve the health and future of newborns and their families.
