Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship Detail

The Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship at the UofL meets Pediatric Pulmonology certification requirements by the American Board of Pediatrics and is fully accredited by ACGME

Overview

The Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship at the University of Louisville is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and meets the requirements for Pediatric Pulmonology certification by the American Board of Pediatrics.

The program is designed to support fellows in achieving their career goals through a personalized training experience. Fellows have the option to pursue a degree (MS in Clinical Investigation or Public Health), which includes coursework on clinical research, manuscript writing, grant writing, epidemiology, biostatistics and ethical issues in clinical research.

The fellowship aims to provide fellows with the core knowledge and skills needed to deliver high-quality care to children with pulmonary conditions. Fellows will have opportunities to develop teaching abilities, engage in research, participate in quality improvement initiatives and take on leadership roles in various taskforces. The program is structured to foster both professional growth and fellow well-being, preparing them to sit for the American Board of Pediatrics Pulmonary Sub-board examination and to practice independently in pediatric pulmonary medicine.

The faculty consists of board-certified pediatric pulmonologists who are not only exceptional clinicians but also dedicated teachers and mentors. They bring diverse research interests, including severe asthma, cystic fibrosis, chronic lung diseases, recurrent pulmonary infections, wheezing in infancy and congenital pulmonary malformations, providing a rich learning environment for fellows.
