The Department of Pediatrics offers a variety of pediatric training programs and serves as a key rotation site for all students at the UofL School of Medicine. Each year, the department trains over 90 interns, residents and fellows.

Residency
The Pediatric Residency Program offers diverse training in general pediatrics and subspecialties. It combines bedside training, didactics, mentoring and electives, preparing residents for various career paths in pediatrics.

Clinical and Pediatric Psychology Doctoral Internship
The Clinical and Pediatric Psychology Doctoral Internship provides a one-year intensive training, preparing interns for advanced postdoctoral training or practice.

Child Abuse Fellowship
The Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship offers diverse training in a state with high child victimization rates. Fellows evaluate various maltreatment cases, working in a collaborative and flexible environment.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship integrates developmental, therapeutic and pharmacological care, preparing fellows for leadership in clinical, research and educational settings.

Child Neurology Residency
We offer three five-year categorical positions per year where participants may apply for their two-year preliminary training in pediatrics with three-year training in child neurology, both at the University of Louisville.

Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship
The three-year ACGME-accredited fellowship prepares fellows for careers in developmental-behavioral pediatrics. Based at Norton Children's Development Center, it emphasizes patient care, teaching, research, leadership and advocacy.

Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship
Our cardiology fellowship, a three-year ACGME-accredited program, offers comprehensive training in clinical and research aspects. Fellows progress from a clinical focus in year one to tailored academic training in years two and three.

Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship
Our fellowship is a three-year program developing academic critical care specialists. Fellows train in advanced ICU care, including ECMO, VADs and transplants, at facilities like the Just for Kids Unit and Jennifer Lawrence Cardiac ICU.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship
The fellowship offers two- and three-year tracks for emergency medicine and pediatrics-trained residents. It focuses on clinical care, education, research and leadership in pediatric emergency medicine

Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship
The Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship offers clinical and research training. Fellows gain hands-on experience at Norton Children’s Hospital, UofL clinics and specialty clinics like metabolic bone, DART and the gender clinic.

Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship
Our fellowship aims to develop leaders in academic and clinical pediatric hematology/oncology. Graduates will possess a deep understanding of pediatric hematologic and oncologic disorders and contribute to future advancements in the field.

Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship
Our fellowship is a two-year, ACGME-accredited program that trains pediatric hospitalists. Fellows develop into skilled clinicians, educators, advocates and leaders, gaining the knowledge and mentorship to advance care for hospitalized children.

Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Louisville is a three-year, ACGME-accredited program that trains one fellow every three years. It offers focused mentorship, producing exceptional clinicians, educators and researchers

Neonatal Fellowship
This three-year ACGME-accredited program combining clinical rotations at level IV and III NICUs, research and hands-on experience in outpatient clinics and transport teams, with a focus on basic sciences and outcomes research.

Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowships
The program supports fellows through personalized training. Fellows may pursue an MS in clinical investigation or public health, with coursework in clinical research, manuscript/grant writing, epidemiology, biostatistics and research ethics.

Pediatric Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship
Established in 1992, our fellowship provides specialized training in consultation-liaison, hematology-oncology and eating disorders, preparing fellows for advanced clinical and research roles.
