The Department of Surgery has been training general surgery residents for more than a century, with a longstanding tradition of excellence rooted in a broad-based, comprehensive educational experience. Our training environment supports a wide range of career goals—whether entering clinical practice immediately after residency or pursuing competitive fellowship opportunities across surgical subspecialties. Many of our graduates have gone on to become leaders in academic surgery, serving as department chairs and presidents of national surgical organizations.
