Overview

Our faculty’s clinical and academic expertise has significantly enriched resident and student training in the management of inflammatory bowel disease, fecal incontinence, primary and recurrent colorectal cancer and common anorectal disorders.

This commitment to education and excellence led to the establishment of a one-year accredited fellowship in colorectal surgery. The program emphasizes close, one-on-one mentorship between faculty and fellows, with comprehensive exposure to all facets of colorectal care—including complex re-operative tertiary referral surgery, endoscopy, laparoscopy, anorectal surgery and anorectal physiology.

Research in this field has seen remarkable growth, culminating in the creation of the Digestive Surgery Research Laboratory. Research fellowship positions are available and over the past five years, three fellows have earned PhD degrees during their training. Opportunities for medical and undergraduate student research are also available and actively encouraged.
